The Milwaukee Brewers only have one major offseason trade on their resume, as they traded Devin Williams for Nestor Cortes and Caleb Durbin. They have made a few under the radar signings, but it looks like there should be one or two more relatively huge signings to come. That being said, they’ve basically been ruled out of the running for a one-star pitcher lately.
One star pitcher is expected to make a decision soon on where he will sign
International free agent pitcher Roki Sasaki he is expected to make a decision shortly after the deployment window closes on January 23. He took his time throughout the process as he met with several teams, weighing all options and taking factors such as winnings, pitching development, direct access to a flight to Japan and market size into account. Taking this into account, Sasaki has reportedly narrowed his decision down to three teams and the Milwaukee Brewers are not one of them.
The Milwaukee Brewers have essentially been ruled out of pursuing Roki Sasaki
The finalists for Japanese star Roki Sasaki’s right-hander are the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and Toronto Blue Jays– sources tell ESPN. Sasaki will make a decision on his team before the posting window closes on January 23.

Who will the Milwaukee Brewers sign during the 2025 international signing period?
The Brewers have one of the largest international bonus pools to work with at $7,555,500. It is likely that they will take the approach of signing a vast number of players again as they signed 35 prospects last year. The headliner of this year’s group is reportedly Kenny Fenelon, an explosive outfielder whose transfer value is estimated at $1-2 million.
On @MLBPipeline According to sources, among the top 50 international prospects in the 2025 signing class, the Brewers are expected to sign Kenny Fenelon (No. 35), Brailyn Antuñez (No. 41) and Christopher Acosta at No. 44. Fenelon is one of the best hitters in its class with a plus figure. ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/L3UvReYgmr

Despite the odds always being slim, it’s disappointing that the Brewers won’t be the team to sign Roki Sasaki. A lot of things worked in their favor, such as an intentionally vast bonus pool, a good history of winning and pitching development, and they are a miniature market team. The team is missing out on an opportunity to acquire top talent who will be under control for several years.
