Packers sections are moving on from DL coach Jason Rebrovich after a disappointing season

After a disappointing season defensively, Matt LaFleur and the Green Bay Packers are moving on under defensive line coach Jason Rebrovich, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

The hunt for a novel defensive line coach is already underway, and the Packers are in the process of interviewing candidates.

Rebrovich joined the Packers staff as an outside linebackers coach under former defensive coordinator Joe Barry in 2022. In 2023, he was moved to offensive specialist and then defensive line coach – covering both defensive ends and defensive tackles – under first-year coordinator Jeff Hafley.

The Packers finished with 45 sacks, but were below average in 2024 in pressure rate. The four-man attack that was supposed to be the strength of the defense never became a consistent factor, forcing Hafley to operate more blitzes and simulated pressures to disrupt the quarterback.

To take the next step, the Packers need to do a better job of pressuring the quarterback with only four players in 2025.

Rebrovich was the defensive line coach at previous stops with the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Both LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst expressed confidence in the defensive players during their season-ending press conferences this week. The Packers have invested steep draft capital and millions of dollars in forward space, but the results – especially this season – have been disappointing, and Rebrovich is taking the fall.

The next defensive line coach’s goal will be to maximize the production of Rashan Gary, Kenny Clark, Devonte Wyatt, Lukas Van Ness and the other newborn talents on the Packers’ roster in 2025.
