The Milwaukee Brewers surprised many people last season by winning 93 games en route to their second straight National League Central Division title. Perhaps the only person they haven’t surprised is themselves. Before the start of the 2024 MLB season, manager Pat Murphy told reporters Brice Turangin particular, he was going to make a quantum leap.

Second baseman Brice Turang of the Milwaukee Brewers had a stellar 2024 season
As a rookie in 2023, Turang hit just .218/.285/.300 with six home runs, 34 RBI and 26 stolen bases. Although he played good defense at second base, his struggles in the outfield led to a ephemeral demotion to Tripe-A for the season.
With Keston Hiura’s disappearance still fresh in fans’ minds, many believed that Turang, being an elite defender, would follow a similar path.
But while he doesn’t have the power of Hiura, Turang has proven he can be at least an average Major League hitter.
In 2024, he hit .254/.316/.349 with seven home runs, 57 RBI and a team-leading 50 stolen bases.
Additionally, he won the National League Gold Glove at second base and the league’s Platinum Glove, awarded to the best defensive player, regardless of position.

Despite winning the Gold and Platinum Gloves, MLB Network he left him off his list of the 10 best second basemen in the game. Their list shows that the Brewers’ second baseman isn’t even in the top two at his position in the league. Brendan Donovan z Cardinals of St. Ludwik Nico Hoerner of the Chicago Cubs also made the list.

Of course, it’s nothing novel for major networks and national analysts to overlook Milwaukee players and the Brewers in general.
Hopefully, Turang will be able to remind them how good he was last year by producing another outstanding season in 2025.
