The Milwaukee Bucks are having another disappointing offseason. All three offseasons since the Bucks won the championship in 2021 have been preceded by a first- or second-round exit from the playoffs. This is not what many expected after winning the title in 2021.
Many thought the Bucks would make a trade in the 2023-24 season to address the defense. As it turns out, they almost succeeded.
The Milwaukee Bucks have almost agreed to a massive trade
According to Grant Williams, he almost became a member of the Milwaukee Bucks:
Grant Williams just revealed that he was supposed to be traded to the Bucks, but “the deal fell through.”

Ahead of the February 8 trade deadline, Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams revealed that he was almost traded to the Milwaukee Bucks.
He was ultimately traded to the Hornets by the Dallas Mavericks.
“His Just, Charlotte was the best opportunity,” Williams said. “I think it’s the only other team probably yes the option was Milwaukee, but the deal sort of fell through By.”
Zach Bachar of Bleacher Report further illustrated what happened to Williams:
It was a surprising move because Dallas had already signed the 25-year-old as part of a three-man team trade in July 2023. While Williams didn’t drastically increase his production with the Mavericks, despite averaging 26.4 minutes per game with them, he still shot a respectable 37.6 percent from three.
He may have worn out his welcome after just a few months in Dallas, with ESPN’s Tim MacMahon saying Williams “misjudged a lot of people” in the organization during the Feb. 9 edition Podcast of the Hoop collective (Mark 15:30).
The trade with the Hornets turned out to be a success for the Mavericks as they received forward PJ Washington in return. Washington has played a key role throughout Dallas’ current playoff run, averaging 13.9 points and 6.7 rebounds each night in the postseason while having the third-best net rating on the roster (via NBA.com).
Milwaukee could have used Williams to provide depth in the frontcourt when the team lost to the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the playoffs with superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo sidelined with a calf strain.
