The Green Bay Packers have received some good news on the coaching front over the past few days. Two of head coach Matt LaFleur’s top assistants, offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich and defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, interviewed for head coaching positions with other teams. Stenavich of the Chicago Bears and Hafley of New York Jets.
Fortunately for Green Bay, the Bears and Jets instead hired the Detroit Lions’ coaches away, with offensive coordinator Ben Johnson going to Chicago and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn going to New York.
Now both Johnson and Glenn need to fill out their staffs, with one of them looking to hire the former Packers coach and Wisconsin Badgers star.
The Chicago Bears want to interview former Green Bay Packers coach and Wisconsin Badgers star Aubrey Pleasant
According to Ian Rapoport from NFL NetworkJohnson and the Bears would like to interview current Los Angeles Rams assistant head coach and passing game coordinator Aubrey Pleasant regarding the defensive coordinator opening:
The #Bears I asked #Rams Assistant head coach and passing game coordinator Aubrey Pleasant is interviewing for an open position at DC under Ben Johnson, a source said. That’s a key reason why Chris Shula’s defense was so impressive slow in the season.

Green Bay just interviewed former Bears defensive coordinator Eric Washington for their vacant defensive line coaching position.
As some fans may recall, Pleasant was most recently an offensive consultant on LaFleur’s staff in Green Bay. After Lions head coach Dan Campbell fired him as defensive backs coach midway through the 2022 season, the Packers head coach hired him as an offensive consultant.
After the 2022 season, many fans wanted Pleasant to replace Joe Barry as defensive coordinator. However, he was rehired by the Rams, with whom he was the defensive backs coach from 2017-2020. Pleasant also coached the Washington Commanders and Cleveland Browns.
It was while in Washington that Pleasant met and became friends with LaFleur, who was then the quarterbacks coach. Sean McVay, the Rams’ current head coach, was also the tight end coach.
Before starting his coaching career, he played defensive back for the Wisconsin Badgers in 2005-2008. Instead of continuing his football career, Pleasant became a graduate defensive assistant at Michigan to begin his coaching career in 2011. There he also obtained a master’s degree in education.
