Green Bay Blizzard legend BJ Hill has been named head coach of the Green Bay Southwest football team

GREEN BAY — BJ Hill is a Green Bay Blizzard legend and now, even as his days come to an end, he will answer to the same boss.

Chris Williams, who was his head coach with the Blizzard team in 2018, is now the athletic director at Green Bay Southwest High School and was the one who hired him to be the head coach of the Trojans football program.

“I told myself that if I wasn’t going to play professionally, I wanted to pursue sports, so it’s nice that it all came full circle for me at the right time,” Hill said.

The program has struggled significantly over the last four seasons, winning one game in each of the last four years. Hill replaces Aaron Van Eperen and Chad Thiry, who served as co-coaches for the past four years. The Trojans’ last playoff appearance was in 2019, when they lost to Kaukauna in the first tier of the playoffs.

“It’s a monumental task, but at the same time it’s been done before. If you look at the professional level, you will see that teams can do this in one year. You saw Teddy Bridgewater turn around his high school team in one year, so it absolutely can be done,” Hill said of changing the program.

During his introductory press conference Wednesday, Hill, who was the Trojans’ wide receivers coach in 2013, delivered the message to his team that they would win sooner or later:

“I will say it now, all the failures we suffered are over.”
