Granite Peak – Wausau
Granite Peak is one of the best ski resorts in Wisconsin. Wausau Park boasts an impressive 200 vertical feet and over 50 trails. What sets this location apart for beginners is that many of the trails are rated as easier and beginner-friendly. You’ll also find a fantastic ski school here, offering lessons for everyone from youthful children to all-female adult groups.
Christmas Mountain – Wisconsin Dells
This little ski hill gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Four of the 16 trails at Christmas Mountain are perfect for beginners and great for learning. They also have a gigantic number of high-quality intermediate routes where quick learners can test their skills. To get the best experience at Christmas Mountain, consider staying at the resort and reserving your lift tickets and lessons in advance.
Mount La Crosse – La Crosse
When learning to ski, something that can easily sluggish down your progress is the relatively low length of most beginner runs. If you’ve already done a few introductory lessons and are looking for a longer, green run where you can really develop your skills, that’s good Mount La Crosse this is the perfect hill for you. It’s home to one of the longest beginner runs in the state, and there’s a great on-site ski school in case you need a refresher once you get there.

Mount Christie–Bruce
This Northwoods ski hill is in many ways a paradise for beginner skiers. Christie Mountain offers 11 different beginner trails and offers some of the most competitively priced private lessons in the state. Oh, and keep your eyes peeled for the Great Blue Beast. If the legends are true, you might even see this snow-dweller wandering the slopes of Mount Christie.
