Marinette – Last year, the Marinette girls basketball team said that it was “literally unreal” when they took their first conference crown in the history of the program.
Now they did it again, winning the titles of the North -Eastern conference, and this year the senior believes that he has started a up-to-date standard for classes.
“That’s what we wanted to do – just leave your trail in the program,” said older Chloe Seymour.
“As a trainer, you feel in this group every time you enter this court, you have the opportunity to win,” said coach Zac Barker.
Marines have a total of nine seniors, and Bryanna Torkko, Riley Kieffer and Seymour played significant minutes since they were first year students.
Because this trio was the second, they led the team to the winning record each year. This happens after the program has passed over 20 years without the victorious season.
“Basketball Marinette had a stereotype and to break it, be different and prove that we are such a team, something special,” said Elder Rekan Hermanson.
“This is probably one of the largest programs we’ve ever had in four years,” said Seymour. “It is great to see how more girls are interested in basketball.”
Described as one in a million, the girls assign a Barker, who is at the forefront at the forefront.
“He always has a quick plan for us and motivates us and pushes us and always says:” No matter what I am proud of you, “said Kieffer.” No matter what we do, we always know that he will be or us proud “.
They say that success begins with being “pests” in defense. Marines lead the full court press almost the entire game.
“We always reject the teams,” said the second Liz Wade. “They are as they can go out in this, but it is really unheard of throughout the game.”
Although the history of the program is great, they say that they have their own monuments beyond the title of the conference.
“Our goal this season was to go to Play -ff than before,” said Kieffer.
Marines (19-4,15-2) can win NEC by winning with Lutheran Fox Valley or (18-5,14-3) a loss of freedom on Thursday evening.
