DNR offers the promotion of the fishing clinic, materials for a free fishing weekend on January 18-19

Madison-Winter Winter Fishing Weekend in Wisconsin will take place on January 18-19, 2025, when anglers can fish most of the water without fishing license, trout or salmon stamps (there are exceptions on some waters of trout, so checking recipes).

Conservation groups and volunteers interested in organizing a fishing clinic this weekend can register for the event at DNR to get support in promotion and educational materials. Send the application forms by January 8. Clinical plans should include anglers with restricted mobility. Many state properties and social partners have accommodation or equipment to ensure outdoor availability for everyone. All fishing regulations, including bag limits, size limits and limitations of species, remain in defense.

Subsidies for the R3 angler available at DNR

Madison – DNR accepts applications for a recruitment and reactivation subsidy program (Angler R3) to support augment the number of anglers in Wisconsin.

Previous grants supported educational programs in schools, fishing classes flies for women and veterans, training for people promoting the available fishing and expanding fishing programs in children’s camps.

The subsidy cycles last two years. Financing becomes available about a year after submitting the application. A total of 30,000 USD is available for projects, with individual subsidy awards up to USD 5000.

This subsidy is supported by the Federal Fish Sport Restoration Fund, which is generated by excise tax on fishing equipment and motor fuel. Applications are available via DNR GRANT Angler R3 program website. The deadline expires on February 18, 2025.

Nominations for the Hunter Ethics award Nominations due to January 31

Madison – DNR accepts nominations for the Hunter Ethical Hunter award in 2024. Nominees are chosen on the basis of exceptional moral activities and character in the field.

The award, founded in 1997, recognizes a hunter whose action is a symbol of Wisconsin hunting heritage. This honor represents the tradition outside, with respect and safely.

Examples of nominations may include support to other hunters in finding a lost game, helping beginner hunters or protect natural resources. Everyone can designate the licensed Hunter Wisconsin for their actions in any hunting season 2024.
