Kaukauna (NBC 26) – ICE in his veins, Keegan van Kauwenberg carved his name in the history of Kaukauna basketball, abandoning a record 56 points for ghosts to get at least participation in the Fox Valley Association conference.
“I don’t know if it really surprises us because we’ve seen many different things,” said coach Mike Schakov. “He can get shooting at all three levels. He is one of the most unique players when it comes to gaining basketball that we have passed through our program. “
Van Kauwenberg said he had several huge games, but nothing like that night.
“I will spin him,” said Van Kauwenberg. “If this happens, I will shoot again. There is a lot of emotions through your head. In the middle of the game I thought: “Oh, I’m a little approaching.” Well, I’m two shots now. Oh, that’s mine. Sweet.”
His clutch spectacle led the ghosts to the first conference title since 2016, the achievement of Van Kauwenberg from the very beginning of the season set off to his sight.
“It was the biggest feeling I had had for a long time,” said Van Kauwenberg. “I sprayed a lot of water to the Schaal coach and thought it was quite sweet.”
Schakov believes that the band’s success results from his selfless mentality.
“You must have selfless players to achieve not only such a team’s goal – concluding a conference – but also a player in a team that can score 56 points at night,” said Schalaow.
The stage is prepared for the stimulating finals of the regular season. Kaukauna has the opportunity to directly win the FVA title at Senior Night.
“On Thursday evening we will celebrate the conference championship and it is only a matter of whether we will share them or will it be ours?” Said Schalkow.
When he enters the last episode of his career in ghosts, Van Kawenberg hopes that he will leave her legacy with a program similar to the former Kaukaun star Jordan McCabe.
“I want people to look at me – people at the HoOops club to look me,” said Van Kauwenberg. “If you look at the wall, there are many really good bands and I feel very honored that we’ll finally be on this wall.”
Van Kauwenberg said he was excited about continuing his career at UW-Green Bay, but he would certainly miss ghosts.
