The Wisconsin Badgers will have a different lineup for the 2024-2025 season. A. J. Storr, Chucky Hepburn, and Connor Essegian entered the transfer portal and found fresh homes for themselves. As for Tyler Wahl, he left the show due to graduation.
Wisconsin finished last college basketball season with a 22-14 record before losing to the James Madison Dukes in the NCAA Tournament. Some believe the Wisconsin Badgers may not be as good in 2024-2025, but you never know.
Much will depend on how head coach Greg Gard utilizes his rotations. Gard also used the transfer portal to try to improve the squad.
Incoming freshman Daniel Freitag is looking to make a name for himself with the Wisconsin Badgers
When Chucky Hepburn shockingly left the Wisconsin Badgers basketball program via the transfer portal, many people thought incoming freshman Daniel Freitag would be the starter in 2024-25. With the Badgers placing Central Arkansas’ Camren Hunter in the transfer portal, he is projected to be in the program’s starting lineup next year.
However, that doesn’t mean Freitag won’t be part of the rotation as a freshman. He will be the program’s backup quarterback. Fansided’s Jed Katz wrote about where Daniel Freitag fits in the Wisconsin Badgers’ rotation for next college basketball season.
Katz he said:
“Freitag has been hailed as the savior of Wisconsin basketball, but his starting role will likely have to wait. The 6-foot-8 point guard from Minnesota will get time behind Hunter, and that’s no surprise. With an established core and experienced signings in Madison, it’s better to hire Freitag as a backup point guard rather than putting him into action right away. The Badgers want to win, and if Freitag doesn’t catch the attention of most players before the season starts, he’ll have to prepare for his rookie season before taking over.
He is a four-star recruit. Freitag is 5-foot-10 and weighs 195 pounds. Other schools that were interested in him included the Baylor Bears, California Golden Bears, Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if Wisconsin Badgers fans clamor for more minutes of action next season for Daniel Freitag if he starts playing well right away. Depending on how things unfold, Freitag could become a freshman sensation for the basketball program.
