Richfield Historical Society (RHS) invites everyone to welcome spring during the annual day of family maple syrup. The holiday will take place on Saturday, March 22, 9:00 to 16:00 in Richfield Historical Park located in 1896 Hwy 164, Richfield Wi 53076, 1/2 mile north of Holy Hill Road. Admission is free.
Spring brings a vortex of activity to Shack Sugar Shack, where juice collected from maple trees in the park is cooked on syrup. Syropine demonstrations will take place all day, with discussions about the history of Maple SAP products. The syrup will also be available for sale and consumables.
This year’s event will take place a maple syrup competition. The tasting part of the competition will start at 9:00 and will take place in a granary building adjacent to the sugar hut.
Our notable breakfast of pancakes and sausages with real maple syrup will be served from 9:00 to noon. Coffee, sizzling chocolate and sizzling dogs will be served from 9:00 to 15:00, our wonderful maple candies will also be available all day.
Pioneer Homestead Area will contain demonstrations of rendering lard, senior -fashioned cooking and weaving for historic loom. Children will be able to watch the chicks in the barn!
