Oshkosh (NBC 26) – running is more than a sport for the Moore family – it’s a way of life.
Both parents are trainers, and all seven children run. It’s not just a family; It’s a team. Elder Erin Moore, defender of the Master of State at 800 meters, continues his family heritage in Lourdes High School.
“I definitely got it from my parents,” Erin said. “Just watching my whole siblings, and my dad and mother are trainers here,” I grew up. “
With both parents, coaching and six older siblings, who all ran in Lourdes, may seem that Erin was to follow traces. But her father Tim Moore said that the decision always depends on them.
“We’re going to NCAA Division I, II and III National Meets regularly as a family,” he said. “So my older children and my younger have always ran as part of our recreational experience. And this lit a fire so that they would like to get involved.”
Tim trains at high school level, while his wife, Polly, trains junior high school. For them, coaching is a way to give a sport they love – and bring them closer to their family.
“You want to create experiences for all your children and create memories,” said Tim. “Having children around us was a real blessing all the time.”
Even with so many runners in the family, Erin said that it was always focused on encouragement – not competition.
“When everyone returned to the city for Christmas or thanksgiving – especially turkey trot – we make morning running or just run together,” she said. “They’ll give me advice, but it’s not too competitive.”
This felt support last year at a state meeting, where she set a state record at 800 meters with a time of 2: 10.48. It was the first individual title of the family – and a moment that they would never forget.
“Speaking at least unique,” Tim said, choking. “To be able to experience it with my children and their passion for Erin and simply the success she had – it was a really special time for our family.”
Erin is obliged to run at the University of Nebraska. But before he goes to study, he focuses on the last season in Lourdes, competing in the 800, 400 and 4×400 relay.
“My team for 4×4 really wants to win or put higher in a state,” she said. “So it’s definitely just achieving and progressing.”
Erin may soon go to college, but her parents say they are content that the finish line is not yet – with another daughter still competing in Lourdes.
