Wisconsin State Trap Shooting association hosts national competition

Competitors from all over the country began arriving Monday at the WTA shooting intricate and campground in Nekoosa.


NEKOOSA, WI (WAOW) – The Wisconsin State Trap Shooting Association(WTA) is holding the 123rd annual State Shoot Competition this week.

Competitors from all over the country began arriving Monday at the WTA shooting intricate and campground in Nekoosa.

Last year, 23 states were represented by competitors.

This year, 200 campsites are already filled, and they are expecting roughly 4600 competitors.

Events include Singles, Doubles, and Handicap that will conclude Sunday afternoon, where State Champions will be crowned.

“We’re excited, there coming from Florida, Wyoming, Utah, all over the U.S.” said Amy Jenkins.

The WTA campground and shooting range is open year round to the public. It’s located at 1312 Akron Drive in Nekoosa.
