Sweetgreen or Crisp & Green will establish in Madison

Descrum:

Salad and bowls restaurants have been gaining popularity for some time, but national chains were quite serene in Madison. Probably because our home version, Ford Kitchen, received a sturdy bridgehead early, expanding from one location to State Street in 2015 to nine – five in the Madison region, as well as PaWaukee, Whitefish Bay, Milwaukee and Champaign, Ilinois. It seems to me that now it is also a chain.

Madison received his first sweetness, grandfather National Bowl Chains, at State Street in autumn 2023. Crisp & Green opened on the corner of Mineral Point and Gammon a few months later. And the up-to-date Sweetgreen opened at Hilldale at the end of March.

People like the idea of hearty eating, and comical salads say “health” without “being on a diet”. Both Sweetgreen and Crisp & Green display the calories of starters on the menu board, and more information on nutritional value is available online. I do not intend to get into the weeds on calories-you can easily discover that the Sweetgreen chicken bowl to pull only one example, carries nothing to 705 calories-15 more calories than cheeseburger cheese with Moyyah bacon.

Crisp & Greenwhich began with one sale in Wayzata, Minnesota in 2016, is developing throughout the upper central west. I was impressed by the current seasonal Crisp & Green, Wild Child bowl. Its wild base of rice connects well with fresh rocket and radicchio. Baked chicken was white meat, which actually tasted like chicken. And the sweet and perfectly roasted Brussels sprouts were unusual, one of the best roasted Brussels sprouts I’ve ever had. There were too many dried cranberries, and the goat cheese, which is found on other ingredients, such as the ice cream knob, was challenging to break down, but this did not admire my pleasure.

The seasonal #squashgoals salad was less satisfying. Greens – here, kale and rocket – were undermined by Wan Kale. The crushed cheddar had a petite taste of cheese, and the clone baked squacts Butternut tasted from a mixture of spices, but not squash. I signed Buffalo chicken to baked chicken, which could be the most critical event #squashgoals. (It tastes like Buffalo Chicken!) His real fall was a fly -made pumpkin sauce, which simply tasted sweet.

Crisp & Green has many characteristic bowls and salads and many options for creating your own non -standard creation. Crisp & Green also makes packaging if it’s your business.

Sweetgreen Head more exclusive. His protein plates-more dinner option-distinguish the garlic steak, salmon and chicken from miso. No compresses. But the heart of the menu are still salads and cereal bowls.

The crunchy rice bowl is based on a fresh spring mix and wild rice, with carrots, smeared with purple cabbage, cucumbers and blackened chicken, finished with coriander branches and fresh lime sheep, which really distinguished her. This is a really impressive piquant cashew sauce. He is crazy in a Tahini-Essque way, with a controlled ginger explosion. Other dazzling spots are random apple pieces and pieces of baked sweet potato, which rightly belong to the harvest bowl. On the other hand, the blackened chicken seemed to be thigh meat without much taste.

The chopped steak, a more customary salad with Romaine-Tometoes cheese, contains a very good sauce with grated green goddess. It was a good salad – but although the steak was more pleasant than chicken, its total uniformity began to bother me. If choosing protein in Sweetgreen, I would choose salmon or tofu, which is subtle, but not entirely tedious.

Sweetgreen is currently promoting its fries with frills-fried avocado oil and seasoned with sea salt and herbs. “They were fine; they are best, like every fry. Cooling, are definitely potatoes, but dehydrated. My question is: did anyone ask about it? Did people ask for fries with fries with lettuce?

And Oscar goes to …

During many visits to Crisp & Green and Sweetgreen over the past month, I shifted. Some salads/bowls are better than others, but generally I can’t say that one chain will bestself the other. Crisp & Green has more choice of protein, his chicken Sweetgreen’s and I like the packaging option. Ultimately, nothing got stuck like my decade feeling for Power Bowl in Ford Kitchen. Your choice can be reduced to what is closer when you want salads.
