In some ways, Milwaukee Bucks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo has become the laughing stock of the entire league. It’s as if this man can’t do anything right, and his every move is analyzed and criticized with reckless contempt.
According to Bucks gigantic man Bobby Portis, Giannis Antetokounmpo has a major role to play in all the negativity thrown at his older brother.
Milwaukee Bucks news: Bobby Portis comes to the defense of Thanasis Antetokounmpo
Portis harbored love for Thanasis as the former spoke about the elder Antetokounmpo during a recent FanDuel appearance Run it back program. According to Bobby, Thansis doesn’t get the respect he deserves as a true hooper:
“He’s my brother. We talk every day… He’s a great, great man,” Portis said (h/t Advait Jajodia of The Sports Rush).
“…Once you join him on the team, you see what he is like every day. He’s a great player. People don’t understand, bro, I really played for real, real. Brother can really kick.
“He could get into the team and something could go wrong, he could go viral for doing anything… The hate is gathering on him because he is his (Giannis) older brother… The world would actually see if he got a real chance, but they only get Final Minutes match.”
Portis also pointed out that Giannis’ huge shadow had a significant impact on Thanasis’ reputation. Many people believe that Thanasis only plays for the Bucks because of his younger brother – something Portis clearly disagrees with.
Thanasis’ elite work ethic
Portis went on to praise what Thansis brings to the table. The Bucks vet admitted that Thanasis isn’t a star, but at the same time, Portis explained why everyone on the team holds the 31-year-old in high regard for his work ethic:
“Everyone on the team has a specific role, right? If you are the best player on the team, then obviously your role in the team is different from 15 playersvol he brings down the team… He also brings a level of leadership… Everyone respects what he does because of how hard he works every day,” Portis concluded.
