The Wisconsin football staff and linebackers coach Paul Haynes have acquired another official visitor to the second division.
Jayden Shipps, a three-star linebacker from Maryland in the 2025 recruiting class, recently booked an official visit to the Wisconsin football team for June 14. Shipps is a very physical defender and is the team’s main target Maryland Terrapins and Virginia Cavaliers. Wisconsin Football hopes to make a large impact on a recruit during his visit to move up the list of schools.

After much discussion and difficult recruiting, the Wisconsin football team landed in first place official visit from a three-star corner Jayden Shipps. Shipps is currently the No. 25 overall recruit in the state of Maryland and the No. 78 overall defenseman in the 2025 recruiting class. The defenseman also has official visits booked with NC State and Maryland next month with the Badgers.

Wisconsin’s football staff spent much of the last recruiting cycle focusing on acquiring players who would ultimately be the best fit for the team and program. Head coach Luke Fickell wants to run a no-nonsense program that will produce exceptional results, much like his Bearcats teams did before he joined the Badgers.
This time, the Wisconsin football team did more of the same, looking everywhere for the right players for their team. Coach Paul Haynes was one of the busiest members of the staff as he did just that to fill out the Badgers’ secondary. Shipps is one such target for Haynes, who really feels like he could easily move directly into the Badgers program.
Shipps is a quick, physical defender who is able to cover his man regardless of his size or strength. Shipps keeps his man in range and makes sure that opponents can’t easily receive him under his coverage.
Can the Wisconsin football staff come ashore after his official visit?
At this point, Shipps’ trip to Maryland seems certain, as he has visited it several times and also has several crystal ball predictions. For Wisconsin football to land in Shipps, it will have to do everything it can to make its official visit next month in hopes of gaining popularity.
The best tactic for Wisconsin will be to show the cornerback how he can fit into the defense and how he can get on the field faster than most.
