The other day, the Brewers started a three-game series against the Blue Jays. The Milwaukee Brewers won 3-1. Last night in Game 2, the Toronto Blue Jays pitching staff was fantastic, allowing just five hits in one minute 3-0 win. Now the final showdown in this series will determine the winner. Milwaukee starting pitcher Carlos Rodriguez made his MLB debut, and while he struggled at times, this start could have been worse.
After the loss, the Brewers are 39-28. They are six and a half games ahead of the second-place Pittsburgh Pirates in the NL Central Division. With the victory, Toronto has a record of 33-34. The Blue Jays are currently tied for third place with the Boston Red Sox, and although they are 14 games behind the first-place New York Yankees, Toronto will be looking to move up the rankings as much as possible before the all-star break.
The Milwaukee Brewers Powerless lost to the Blue Jays 3-0
On his first at-bat of the game, Carlos Rodriguez recorded his first Major League strikeout against Spencer Horwitz. In the bottom half of the first inning, Blue Jays starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi escaped a bases-loaded jam when Gary Sánchez singled to third base. Toronto got on the board first in the top of the second inning when right fielder George Springer hit an RBI single to right center field. Rodriguez avoided a bases-loaded jam in the top of the third.

In the top of the fourth inning, Horwitz got revenge on Rodriguez after striking out in the first inning when he drove an RBI single to right-center field. Several innings later, in the bottom of the eighth period, although both Christian Yelich and Willy Adames successfully attempted a double steal, Milwaukee was unable to drive home to reduce the deficit or even tie the game. Toronto catcher Danny Jansen scored an RBI double near the left field wall to extend the Blue Jays’ lead. The Brewers couldn’t get going offensively and lost 3-0.

Blue Jays starter Yusei Kikuchi threw five innings, allowing three hits and four walks while striking out five. Spencer Horwitz, Danny Janson and George Springer each had an RBI in the victory. In his first Major League appearance, Carlos Rodriguez threw three and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and a walk on four hits. Brewers center fielder Blake Perkins was the only Milwaukee hitter with multiple hits in the game. In that loss, Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames was brought down on a tackle.
