Milwaukee Brewers: 1 more pitcher will miss extended periods of time due to surgery

The Milwaukee Breweriescontrary to all logic, the team of St. The Louis Cardinals have a 40-29 advantage and a five-and-a-half game for first place in the National League Central Division. The Cincinnati Reds are six games back; The Pittsburgh Pirates are seven games back; and Craig Counsell’s Chicago Cubs are seven and a half games back.

As fans are well aware, the Brewers were able to maintain the lead in the league despite an incredibly high number of injuries to the pitching staff. Before the season even started, Brandon Woodruff was sidelined and All-Star shortstop Devin Williams was placed on the 60-day IL with two back stress fractures.

Since the start of the season, pitchers from across the starting rotation have also been added to the IL: Robert Gasser, Wade Miley, Joe Ross, DL Hall and Jakob Junis. Of these players, both Gasser and Miley will be out of the season.

And now they’re reporting that one of their aspiring relief pitchers may also be sidelined for an extended period of time.

According to Adam McCalvy, who covers the Brewers for MLB.com, right-hander Abner Uribe will need knee surgery. According to McCalvy, Uribe has a torn meniscus in his right knee. In 2022, he underwent surgery for a torn meniscus in his left knee.

According to McCalvyBrewers general manager Matt Arnold said: “It’s one of those where once you get in there they can determine [the extent of the surgical repair]. It might just be some lightweight cleaning.

Arnold also indicated that there is a chance Uribe will play for Milwaukee again this season.

But when Uribe returns to the Big League lineup, he will have to serve a four-game suspension for his role in the brawl between the Brewers and the Tampa Bay Rays.

In 14 appearances for the Brewers this season, Uribe is 2-2 with a 6.91 ERA and 1.89 WHIP. He also has three saves.

However, it is worth noting that almost half of the 11 runs he gave up this season came in one game, and he also lost to the New York Yankees 15-5. In that game, Uribe threw two-thirds of an inning, giving up two hits, three walks and five runs.

Before this appearance, his ERA was a respectable 3.65.

Uribe hasn’t played on the field in Milwaukee since May 1. However, at Triple-A Nashville his ERA was 1.04 in seven appearances.
