Milwaukee Brewers: William Contreras was concussion-free just 1 day after massive collision at Home Plate Stadium

Milwaukee Breweries catcher William Contreras was involved in a collision at home plate during Sunday’s series finale against the Cincinnati Reds. The incident occurred on the last play of the game, and it was announced after the game that he was being evaluated for a concussion. After traveling to Los Angeles to face the Angels, it was revealed that he was no longer concussed, but had the day off for the first game of the series, and a backup catcher was traveling with the team just in case.

With two outs in the ninth inning and a tied score at second base, Reds shortstop Stuart Fairchild was waved home on a base hit. Blake Perkins hit home plate perfectly, and when Fairchild made a tidy tackle, his arm hit William Contreras in the head. Contreras eventually held on to the ball and finished the match, but then required medical attention for a tiny time.

The Milwaukee Brewers announced that William Contreras is concussion-free.

After Contreras was hit in the head during the final game of the game, the Brewers continued to monitor him during the trip from Milwaukee to Los Angeles. So far, 24 hours later, he is still asymptomatic and has been deemed non-concussed. He was not included in the starting lineup against the Angels, but it was announced that he would be available off the bench.

“It looks like he’ll be fine. It’s no surprise. You know he can take a punch. It looks like he will be able to punch, play defense, run or play on the field.

The backup catcher traveled with the Brewers in case he was needed in a game against the Los Angeles Angels.

He travels with the Brewers to Los Angeles as a member of Eric Haase’s taxi squad. The 31-year-old has extensive major league experience with the Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers and was a standout player during spring training. Unfortunately, carrying three catchers was not an option, and Milwaukee languished in the minor leagues throughout the season.
