Were Milwaukee Breweries The player posted on social media after the San Francisco Giants announced the death of Willie Mays. His kind response summed up the emotions of several others.
San Francisco Giants legend Willie Mays has died at the age of 93.
Willie Mays spent 21 of his 23 MLB seasons in a San Francisco Giants uniform. The Hall of Famer won two MVP awards, was a batting champion, a 1954 World Series winner, a 12-time Gold Glove Award winner and a 24-time All-Star. Apart from all the accolades, he was an inspiring player both on and off the field.
One former Milwaukee Brewers player reacted sympathetically to the death of Willie Mays.
On X, former Brewers starting pitcher CC Sabathia posted a nice post and photo of him and Willie Mays. Sabathia mentioned that Mays was an inspiration to him and thanked him for everything he did both on and off the field.
I’ll never forget the day I walked in and heard, “that’s the boy who wears that hat.”
COUNSEL Willie Mays. You changed the game forever and inspired kids like me to follow our dream. Thank you for everything you did on and off the field. Always in our hearts… pic.twitter.com/Xv2ZHbKFvt

CC Sabathia was a member of the Milwaukee Brewers during the 2008 season.
At the 2008 trade deadline, the Brewers traded to CC Sabathia. After taking over, Sabathia put up one of the greatest stretches ever seen by a starting pitcher and was instrumental in breaking their 26-year playoff drought in Milwaukee.
