Green Bay Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon thinks Romeo Doubs is the toughest Packers receiver to beat in practice, thinks Bo Melton is a sleeper entering 2024 and believes all of the newborn receivers complement each other well on offense Matt LaFleur.
Nixon, who re-signed with the Packers this offseason, had good things to say about all five of the Packers’ top players: Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks and Bo Melton.
“All these young guys bring their own aspect to the game. J-Reed is explosive and strong. Wicks runs great routes. I think Christian Watson can beat the guys. I really think they complement each other” – Nixon said Kay Adams about “Up and Adams.” “All these young boys can go, really.”
The Packers return eight of their best players from last year. All eight are second- or third-year players, giving Jordan Love a deep, newborn and emerging group of pass-catchers around him.
Asked about his toughest coverage in practice, Nixon chose Doubs, who caught eight touchdown passes in the regular season and then had 10 catches and 234 yards in two postseason games.
“Probably Rome,” Nixon replied. I think Romeo has a lot in him that a lot of players don’t have. He really gets everything.”
Doubs caught 101 passes in his first two NFL seasons.
And let’s not forget about Melton, who caught 15 passes and had a 100-yard game over the final three weeks of the regular season before catching a postseason touchdown.
“The sleeper in the room is Bo Melton. Because he came in at the end of the year and played great for us,” Nixon said.
Melton caught a long touchdown pass during a team play in OTAs and has firmly established himself as a starter, characterized by his elite speed and run-blocking mentality.
Others competing for snaps and a slot at receiver this summer include Malik Heath, Grant DuBose and Samori Toure.
