Milwaukee Brewers: No. 4 overall Potential candidate to undergo Tommy John surgery and miss next 12 months

Milwaukee Breweries Fourth-ranked candidate Robert Gasser received three opinions on elbow treatment. Two different orthopedic surgeons recommended Tommy John surgery, while the other suggested rehabilitation. Gasser decided to seek a third opinion and will undergo surgery on Monday, June 24.

Which surgeon did Robert Gasser choose to perform Tommy John surgery on his elbow?

Dr. Keith Meister is Robert Gasser’s surgeon of choice. Dr. Meister has performed elbow surgery on players such as Tyler Wells, Felix Bautista, Sandy Alcantara, Jacob Degrom, Eury Perez, Spencer Strider and many others. He also performed shoulder surgery on Brandon Woodruff in the offseason. At this time, it is not known exactly what type of surgery will be performed, as the latest trends also include internal orthosis, in addition to ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction.

Manager Pat Murphy comments on Robert Gasser undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Pat Murphy shared his thoughts on the news that Gasser will undergo season-ending surgery. He talked about one thing Gasser and his organization can take away from the team is that his team plays in the large leagues. Murphy called the knowledge a victory for both Gasser and the Brewers.

How will the Milwaukee Brewers fill out their starting rotation with Robert Gasser officially gone for the season?

Injuries to starting pitchers have been an ongoing problem for Milwaukee this season. With Wade Miley, Brandon Woodruff, and now Robert Gasser not officially returning this year, the Brewers will have to rely on multiple players to fill the void. Tobias Myers has been doing well on the pitch lately, Carlos Rodriguez is just gaining strength and it is possible that all these injuries prompted the organization to promote Jacob Misiorowski to the top league.

Another option is for third-party brewers to add via trade. Garrett Crochet and Jesus Luzardo are two players they could focus on, but others like Jack Flaherty, Erick Fedde, Luis Severino, Tyler Anderson and Trevor Williams are also options.
