In January, the Wisconsin State Assembly unanimously passed bill AB-270, which would require students 17 years of age and younger to take an in-person, hands-on Department of Natural Resources (DNR) hunter safety course and exam in order to obtain a hunting license.
This bill, led by Rep. Treig Pronchinske (R-Mondovi), chairman of the Assembly’s Sports Heritage Committee, received clear majorities on both sides of the aisle. Meanwhile, the five-member Senate Sports Heritage Committee received the Senate version of AB-270 to take action on.
