The Milwaukee Breweries is one of several teams that have suffered injuries to many key players this season. In this article, we’re bringing you an update on three of them, as Devin Williams, Joey Ortiz, and Garrett Mitchell all had noteworthy news.
Milwaukee Brewers No. 1 health update: RHP Devin Williams.
On June 26 in Milwaukee, Devin Williams reached a major milestone in his recovery from a lumbar stress fracture when he took off the mound for the first time. Following the news, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel posted on social media: “It’s possible that Devin Williams will return earlier than mid-to-late July, but that’s not certain.” It will be worth monitoring his recovery after his on-the-mound session, but early indications so far are that everything has gone well.
Milwaukee Brewers No. 2 injury update: INF Joey Ortiz.
Against the Texas Rangers, goaltender Joey Ortiz was removed from the game in the sixth inning. There was an incident in which he hit a tarp, but that was not the reason for his removal. Manager Pat Murphy indicated that Joey Ortiz has been struggling with a stiff neck since the Los Angeles Angels series, that it bothered him in Wednesday’s game against the Rangers and that it is not sedate.
Health update for Milwaukee Brewers #3: Garrett Mitchell.
Garrett Mitchell is rehabbing from an injury at Triple-A Nashville after a broken finger has sidelined him since the end of spring training. He was starting to sultry up at the plate, but unfortunately in his final at-bat on Wednesday night, he was removed after swinging at the pitch and appeared to be grabbing his hamstring.
