Collect data on the Wisconsin sturgeon fishing season, which is crucial to population estimates

If the Center for Biological Diversity succeeds in forcing the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to add sturgeon to the endangered species list, and the Wisconsin sturgeon is not delisted, the result could do more than just threaten the long-standing spearfishing culture of the Winnebago system. It could hurt the local economy in the Lake Winnebago area and wherever sturgeon enthusiasts also fish during the fall hook-and-line season.
Implementing an ESL listing would result in a ban on sturgeon fishing, which would, in turn, disrupt the methodology used to estimate sturgeon populations in the Lake Winnebago system.
