An Updated Look at Wisconsin Football’s 2025 Recruiting Class

Wisconsin football remained heated on the recruiting trail today. The Badgers received a commitment from four-star offensive lineman Hardy Watts. Watts, one of the top players in Massachusetts, chose Wisconsin football over Clemson and Michigan. That leaves the 2025 recruiting class with 25 commitments. Here’s where the class stands now.

According to 247 Sports, the Wisconsin football team is ranked 15th in the country in the 2025 recruiting class. Their 25 commits are one of the larger classes. That ranking could potentially drop since some of the Blue Bloods only have half the recruits the Badgers have.

In the Big Ten, 247 Sports ranks Wisconsin football tied for fourth with Michigan. Only Ohio State (1), Oregon (5) and Penn State (8) have better-ranked classes. USC is 20th overall, just behind the Badgers and Wolverines.

In the 2025 class, Wisconsin football has two 4-star offensive linemen and three others who are almost 4-star offensive linemen. They could move up at some point. Luke Fickell and his staff have done an incredible job with this class and at this position.

We are moving forward

I’m sure the Wisconsin football team will continue to be aggressive in the 2025 class to add more players. 25 players is a vast class, but Fickell continues to add the players he wants. This will be his first full season with almost all of his guys. When 2025 comes around, most of his players will be his. We should expect classes this high in 2026 and beyond.

Of course, results matter, and this staff will be judged on wins and losses. But what Fickell and the Wisconsin football staff have done from a recruiting standpoint is very impressive. They are acquiring highly rated players and acquiring them from blue-blood programs, and NIL is the most significant factor for most players. The transfer portal may have another problem, but this staff has done a good job of acquiring players from there.

In this era of college football, it’s as tough as ever to compete with the Blue Bloods, and they have the talent, history, and NIL to stay at the top. The Badgers still have a long way to go, but the 2025 class shows they can compete with the substantial boys.
