The first day
16:00 – Start your journey by familiarizing yourself with the area Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center on the edge Chequamegon-Nicolet National ForestThe center appeals to all nature lovers, offering interactive exhibits, wildlife viewing on scenic walkways and much more.
18:00 – Check into one of the many places to stay in Bayfield. If you like bed and breakfasts, try Pinehurst Inn which received the Governor’s Tourism Stewardship Award for its impressive sustainability practices. Near downtown Bayfield, Old Rittenhouse Inn is another great B&B with spectacular views of Lake Superior. I Artesian House is a contemporary and extremely peaceful eco-inn set on 25 handsome acres.

Day two
10 am – Discover Apostle Islands National Reserve and 21 islands with sculptural sea caves. Kayaking is one of the best ways to explore this breathtaking landscape, with full-day and overnight guided kayaking adventures available many professional event organizers.

South – If you need a midday break, try something tasty – maybe a vegetarian option – from Thick radish.
12:30 pm – Discover the area Madeline Island! Jump on Madeline Island Ferry Line for a three-mile cruise and an overnight campsite at Big Bay State Park.
Once you have set up camp, explore the island, stopping at Madeline Island Candles, Bell Street Gallery AND Woods Hall Craft Shop for locally made treasures. Grab a bite from a distinctive farm-to-table establishment Coffee cuttlefish or Miijim, offering Ojibwa-inspired cuisine.
Another island, Stockton Islandand Julian Bay also deserve a special mention. This is where you will find the “singing sands.” The quartz content of the sand causes a creaking or “singing” sound underfoot.

If you want to spend an evening together, go to an evening performance at Big Tent Chautauquaa circus arena that has been hosting musical performances for 30 years.
Day third
9 am – Start your second day with a picturesque walk to Wonderstate Coffee for espresso and made-from-scratch pastries.
10 am – Continue your tour on foot using Meyers Beach hiking trail along and above the sea caves. For a more relaxing hike, try the trail in Houghton Falls Natural Area which winds through a picturesque sandstone gorge.
Are there any golfers in your group? Heights of the Apostles The 18-hole golf course is 500 feet above sea level and offers spectacular views of the islands. Honestly, you won’t care what your score is.
14:00 – Buy some last minute gifts at a lovely bookstore. Booksellers of the Apostle Islands offers a collection highlighting the history, culture and cuisine of the area. Be warned, you’ll probably leave with an armful of books!
