This Milwaukee Breweries is one of the teams that has been consistently mentioned in pitching trade rumors, but they could also be looking for offensive additions. MLB Insider recently revealed that one former National League Central star is available as part of a trade in which his current team is looking for prospects in return and will take on a significant portion of his salary.

The Miami Marlins are one team that is trading in 2024. They have multiple pitchers who have been mentioned in trade rumors, recently making outside linebacker Jazz Chisholm Jr. available, and former Pittsburgh Pirates star Josh Bell is expected to be traded. Bob Nightengale recently revealed that the Marlins are looking for prospects in exchange for Bell and are willing to take on virtually the entirety of his $16 million contract.

A former Pirates All-Star in 2019 and then a member of the Washington Nationals, San Diego Padres, and Cleveland Guardians, Josh Bell has been struggling this year. He currently has a negative bWAR, an 80 OPS+, and a .230/.292/.360 slash line. He has historically been good on both sides of the plate, but this year he has struggled as both a right-handed and left-handed hitter.
What “prospects” could the Milwaukee Brewers send to the Miami Marlins in exchange for Josh Bell?
To acquire Josh Bell for a couple of prospects, which in this example are defined by players not ranked in the top 30 of MLB Pipeline’s Brewers prospect rankings, a deal could include RHP Tyler Woessner, OF Noah Campbell, RHP Shane Smith, LHP Russell Smith and OF Carlos D. Rodriguez. If the Brewers were to acquire Bell this year, he would likely replace Jake Bauers. Bauers is also a first baseman, but he hits only from the left side of the plate.
July 30 is the MLB trade deadline. Trade rumors should intensify shortly after the All-Star break, with more deals expected to be made as we get closer to the end of the month.
