After missing an in-person meeting with the team at Altitude (Colorado), Aaron Civale pitched in the Arizona bullpen before meeting with his up-to-date Brewers teammates and coaches Friday in Los Angeles. He also got a ball that day to face the Dodgers, in which the 29-year-old threw 102 balls, covered five innings, allowed four hits and four runs scored, walked three, struck out eight and generated 13 whiffs.

Rhys Hoskins hits his seventh grand slam of the season for the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Brewers currently lead the league in grand slams this season with seven. They have won six of them in the last 13 games and are just the third team since 1900 to do so. San Diego State did it twice in the 2020 season, while the 1996 Montreal Expos were the other.

Friday’s game may have been Shohei Ohtani’s birthday, but it was his teammate Will Smith who stole all the attention, hitting three home runs in the contest. Two of his long balls came off Aaron Civale and the third off Bryan Hudson.

The Brewers and Dodgers will now play on National Television. Their Saturday game will air on FOX with first pitch scheduled for 6:15 PM CT.
