The Seahawks had Evan Brown as their primary center last season, and Brown allowed three sacks, three quarterback pressures and 21 quarterback hurries, according to Pro Football Focus. Those aren’t great numbers for a guy in the middle of an offensive line, and overall, Brown — who’s now with the Arizona Cardinals — was more of a liability than a force. Now under up-to-date coach Mike Macdonald and up-to-date offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, the position will obviously look different. Olusegun Oluwatimi, a fifth-round pick in 2023 out of Michigan, had 128 snaps as a rookie, and his main competition will be Nick Harris, a fifth-round pick in 2020 by the Cleveland Browns who played for up-to-date Seahawks offensive line coach Scott Huff at the University of Washington. Last season, the Huskies had Michael Penix Jr., who threw 117 passes for 20 or more yards in the air — far more than any other quarterback in college football — so whoever the up-to-date center is will have to hold onto the ball long enough for Geno Smith to make long passes down the field.
