Packers WR Jayden Reed comes off non-football injury list

The Green Bay Packers have one of their top offensive playmakers back for the team’s third training camp practice. Coach Matt LaFleur said quarterback Jayden Reed — the team’s leading quarterback last year — has been cleared to practice and will come off the non-football injury (NFI) list on Wednesday.

LaFleur expects Reed to start with individual work Wednesday and then move on to team reps Friday. The Packers have a mandatory day off Thursday.

“Yeah, Jayden is coming off (NFI) today,” LaFleur said. “He’ll be limited. We’ll get him back into the individual. Hopefully, he’ll have a day off tomorrow and then he’ll be back into a limited role with team reps on Friday.”

Reed began training camp on the NFI list after injuring his toe while running a local football camp earlier this month. Neither Reed nor Brian Gutekunst were concerned about the long-term nature of the injury, and Reed ultimately would miss only two practices.

Reed, a second-round pick last year, was expected to be the team’s top quarterback heading into the 2023 season.

The Packers are still out Wednesday with center Tucker Kraft (muscle strain), cornerback Corey Ballentine (hamstring injury), offensive lineman Caleb Jones (hamstring injury), tailback Kitan Oladapo (toe), offensive lineman Donovan Jennings (knee) and quarterback MarShawn Lloyd (hip).

The non-football injuries list includes players who are injured outside of organized team training and matches.
