This Milwaukee Breweries They are 59-43, with a six-point lead over the St. Louis Cardinals for first place in the National League Central Division. A 3-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night not only gave the Brewers another series win, but also clinched the season series over the team that traded away former manager Craig Counsell.
Amazingly, the Brewers were able to maintain a high level of play throughout the season despite constant obstacles. The youth of their roster led to frustrating setbacks as many of their regulars, such as phenom Jackson Chourio, had a learning curve in their first season as Major League players. Injuries, particularly in the starting rotation, also proved to be a challenge the Brewers faced and overcame throughout the season.
Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Christian Yelich is back on the injured list
Brewers left fielder Christian Yelich is having his best season since suffering a concussion in 2019. After hitting just .254/.362/.407 with an average of 14 home runs, 52 RBI and 15 stolen bases per season from 2020-23, the 2018 National League MVP has regained his form.
The 2018 and 2019 NL champion again leads the league in batting average with .315/.406/.504 slash lines, 11 home runs, 42 RBI and 21 stolen bases.
Yelich was the top vote-getter among National League All-Stars and was the initiator of the Mid-Summer Classic in Arlington.
Unfortunately, he is currently unable to play for Milwaukee. During the Brewers’ 1-0 win over Chicago on Tuesday night, Yelich was replaced by a pinch-hitter. Yesterday, it was announced that he will go on the injured list due to a back injury that has been lingering for years and placed him on the list earlier this season.
Speaking to reporters about his options, Yelich did not sound hopeful about his imminent return.
Milwaukee Brewers star Christian Yelich plans to rest and undergo back rehab
On Thursday afternoon, Ken Rosenthal from Athletics reported on X (formerly Twitter) that Yelich would attempt to rest and rehabilitate his back. Up until then, it was thought he might have season-ending back surgery:
Christian Yelich plans to rest and rehabilitate his back rather than undergo surgery that would end his season, source says @TheAthleticAccording to the source, there is a high probability that the surgery will take place in the off-season.

There is no timetable yet for when Yelich will be able to return to the team this season, nor is there any indication of how long he will need to recover from offseason surgery.
Yelich’s decision, however, indicates that he believes the Brewers have something special this year and that he wants to be a part of it. Hopefully, he can recover quickly and aid the team return to the postseason and maybe even the World Series for the first time since 1982.
