Green Bay Packers officially announced the extension of the contract for quarterback Jordan Love on Saturday.
The deal between Love and the Packers was announced Friday. Love officially signed the contract on Saturday.
Although the team did not disclose contract details, it was reported that Love’s contract extension will be for four years and $220 million, including an NFL-record $75 million signing bonus. His contract averages $55 million per year, an NFL record.
General manager Brian Gutekunst expected Love to sign the contract Saturday morning. Coach Matt LaFleur said Love would be at practice and participate after missing the first four practices of training camp.
The four-year extension to his current contract will keep Love under contract with the Packers through the 2028 season.
The Packers selected Love in the first round of the 2020 draft on April 23, 2020. Now, 1,556 days later, Love is the highest-paid player in American football and is set to be the Packers’ starting quarterback for years to come.
