This Milwaukee Breweries They’ve made several moves in the past six weeks to acquire pitching. A low-risk trade for Dallas Keuchel fell through, a deal with the Tampa Bay Rays netted them Aaron Civale, and they recently acquired reliever Nick Means from the Colorado Rockies. Still, they’re not done, looking for pitchers who can provide length and have reportedly checked out a Chicago White Sox starting pitcher.
The Milwaukee Brewers reportedly checked on the condition of one of their Chicago White Sox pitchers.
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported that that the Brewers called the White Sox about Erick Fedde. It’s unclear how substantial/earnest of a discussion they had, but Rosenthal and Joel Sherman also indicated that the St. Louis Cardinals, Houston Astros and New York Mets also reached out to Fedde.
Erick Fedde would be a great option for the Milwaukee Brewers.
For the Brewers, Erick Fedde makes sense for a number of reasons. One is that only two of his starts this year have gone less than five innings. That means he’s doing a great job of consistently throwing 5+ innings, while also pitching to a 3.11 ERA. Plus, Fedde has control through the 2025 season with a reasonable salary of $7.5 million.
What kind of package would the Chicago White Sox need to send Erick Fedde to the Milwaukee Brewers?
Acquiring Erick Fedde, one of the top pitching options available this year, wouldn’t come low-cost. Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell was previously rumored to be the centerpiece of Milwaukee’s rush to acquire starting pitching, and if the White Sox part ways with Luis Robert Jr. and Tommy Pham, they’d happily welcome Mitchell to fill out their MLB outfield roster.
