This Milwaukee Breweries traded with the Colorado Rockies for reliever Nick Mears. In return, they gave away prospects RHP Bradley Blalock and RHP Yujanjera Herrera. Before Sunday’s Brewers finale against the Miami Marlins, Mears was with the club and was added to the 26-man roster. During a meeting with the media, he revealed one major mistake he made before the All-Star break.
New Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Nick Mears learned about one major mistake he made before the All-Star break.
Statistically, Nick Mears doesn’t have a striking ERA. His ERA in 2024 is 5.56, and his career ERA is 4.93. On the mound, he has an elite fastball and a devastating slider, but before the All-Star break, Mears was informed that he was tilting his pitches. Mears said an opposing pitcher passed the information on to one of his Rockies teammates, but he takes full responsibility for the mistake.

How did Nick Mears rate his pitching for the Colorado Rockies?
Nick Mears didn’t go into all the details, but he did say he’s made an adjustment to the way he sets up. According to an investigation by Jack Stern of Brewer Fanatic, it appears he’s added a flap to his glove as he sets up on the mound.
Mears said he recently changed the way he comes in to eliminate tips.
