Sections Packers running back Josh Jacobs’ groin injury not considered stern

Green Bay Packers tight end Josh Jacobs did not practice Thursday, but the veteran isn’t worried about his up-to-date groin injury. In fact, he wouldn’t even say it’s a real injury.

“I wouldn’t call it an injury. It’s not a real injury, I kind of just exaggerated it. If we were going to play today, I would definitely play. I might even practice today,” Jacobs said Thursday.

Several other veterans got a day off Thursday, including Preston Smith, Rashan Gary, Kenny Clark and Elgton Jenkins. Jacobs said the Packers were extra cautious and didn’t include him in practice to make sure the “tweak” didn’t turn into something more stern.

Jacobs wasn’t sure if he would practice during Family Night on Saturday night, but he’s certain he’ll want to once he gets a feel for the atmosphere at Lambeau Field.

“I don’t know exactly what the plans are,” Jacobs said. “I don’t know. I feel like I’m going to get a feel for the atmosphere and everything and I’m going to want to do everything. It’s only Aug. 1, so we’ll see how it goes.”

Jacobs said if the decision were his, he would practice on Thursday.

Jacobs suffered a minor hamstring injury during the offseason training program but missed constrained time. He was fully hearty to start training camp.
