During a recent interview with Sports Heroics in WisconsinLoken talked about his interests in recruiting and early school.
Wisconsin football secures visit from in-state quarterback Korz Loken
The Wisconsin football staff has been keeping a close eye on one of the state’s top recruits in the 2027 recruiting class. It’s never too early to start recruiting a class, and Wisconsin understands that as they’ve worked to develop a relationship with the tight end Korz Loken early in his recruiting career. Loken, an Iola-Scandinavia tight end, is widely considered one of the top players in the state in his recruiting class.
Loken comes from a run-heavy offense and has developed a reputation as a physical run blocker. However, the tight end has been working on his receiving skills and hopes to showcase his skills as a receiver more often in the future. As a receiver, Loken considers himself a “technique” because he can run handsome routes and shed defenders in the process.
This quarterback currently has offers from Central Michigan AND State of Iowabut he had contact with State of Kansas, MinnesotaAND Iowa among others. Loken has not received scholarships from Wisconsin and other major programs he is in contact with, but he hopes to receive them soon.
Loken will join teammate and fellow 2027 recruit Jensen Rice at South Dakota’s upcoming home game this season. Both will be in attendance as recruits and have been given passes to watch the Wisconsin football team up close.
Korz Loken: “I want a program that will use me as a player and develop me…”
For Loken, moving on to the next level of play is an absolute pleasure and blessing, no matter where it ultimately takes him. The first scholarship offer Loken received came from Iowa State Cyclonesand when asked about the offer, the center fielder stated, “Iowa State was my first offer and that will always mean a lot because they believed in me from the very beginning.”
Belief in his players is something Loken is really looking for at the next level, as he has his eye on the program that can aid him the most. When asked about his development and what he expects from a school in that department, Loken stated, “I want a program that will utilize me as a player and develop me to the best level possible.”
Development has also been a huge factor in Loken’s mind, as he spends most of his days focusing on football in one aspect or another. Between developing his blocking skills and working on becoming a receiving tight end, Loken is dedicating his time to becoming the best football player he can be.
How might the Wisconsin Badgers football staff acquire Loken in the future?
In talking to the recruit, Loken made it clear that there are layers of factors leading up to his eventual commitment. Perhaps the most valuable to the recruit are the “vibe” and energy the staff exudes, and the overall way they treat their players. Loken wants to be surrounded by people who want him there, and he wants to see the tight end develop more than he wants to.
If the staff can’t push their players to be their best and love what they do, it’s not a place Loken can call home. The tight end is constantly working to improve all aspects of his game, and ultimately what an athlete is looking for is to be in an environment that strives for the same.
When asked about other factors such as playing time and distance, Loken stated, “Of course I would like to get on the field right away, but if my coaches and staff feel like I need to wait two years and then play, then that’s their decision, and I respect it and follow it 100 percent.” Loken also added, “I want to be somewhere where I feel accepted and I know I’m wanted,” referring to the location of his future college home.
Loken also added that the Wisconsin football coaching staff did a “great” job early on in making the player feel wanted and accepted in Madison.
