Rumors are circulating that the former Milwaukee Brewers first-round draft pick will be traded for a spot in the starting lineup.

This Milwaukee Breweries have been in trade rumors in search of starting pitchers as well as left-handed hitters. A starting pitcher has been needed for them all season, while Ken Rosenthal was the first to link them to a left-handed hitter. Now, MLB Insider Robert Murray has suggested that opposing organizations are viewing Garrett Mitchell as part of a trade for Milwaukee, which could operate him to acquire starting pitchers.

Robert Murray did not suggest the Milwaukee Brewers are considering trading Garrett Mitchell.

IN Robert Murray’s Revelatory Report The rumors about Garrett Mitchell being part of a trade for starting pitching didn’t suggest the Brewers were actively looking to trade him. It’s true that Mitchell’s name has come up in trade discussions, but it was the view of one rival executive that Mitchell could be used as part of a trade to acquire starting pitching.

One name that has come up in trade talks involving the Milwaukee Brewers is outside hitter Garrett Mitchell, sources say. It’s unclear how willing the Brewers are to move the juvenile left-handed hitter, especially after Christian Yelich was placed on the injured list with a back injury. However, one rival executive who has been in contact with Milwaukee viewed Mitchell as a potential trade item for a starting pitcher.

Should the Brewers be willing to trade former first-round draft pick Garrett Mitchell?

As a former 20th overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, the verdict on how good Garrett Mitchell will be in the major leagues is still out. His stock is still high, but shoulder surgery cost him most of the 2023 season, and he didn’t make a major league appearance until July in 2024 due to a broken hand suffered in March. The 25-year-old has just 192 plate appearances under his belt, but he has shown improved plate discipline and reduced his strikeout percentage since making his MLB debut in 2022. All of this leads to an engaging debate about whether or not Milwaukee should be willing to trade him to fill the needs of their 2024 roster.

If Garrett Mitchell is traded, the Milwaukee Brewers will still have a solid core of outfield players.

Trading depth is a strategy that many organizations employ, and the Milwaukee Brewers could afford to trade Garrett Mitchell if they wanted to. Even with Christian Yelich on the injured list, they would still have an outfield of Sal Frelick, Jackson Chourio, and Blake Perkins. They also have Joey Wiemer (who was in disarray in July) and Tyler Black (who resumed outfield play this year) in the minor leagues, along with slugger Brewer Hicklen, who was recently added to the 40-man roster.

It will be engaging to see what happens or doesn’t happen with Garrett Mitchell. The MLB trade deadline is July 30.
