Packers teams organize workout for 7 free agents, including 3 kickers

The Green Bay Packers will make sure they leave no stone unturned in their search for a kicker in 2024. On Monday, the team announced the workouts of seven free agents, including three kickers.

On Family Night Saturday, Anders Carlson made 9 of 10 kicks, while Greg Joseph made 8 of 10. The Packers released starting kicker James Turner on Tuesday of last week. Carlson, a current Year 2 player, and Joseph, a seasoned prospect, have been competing throughout training camp.

The Packers practiced on Monday with kickers Jonathan Garibay, James McCourt and Andre Szmyt.

McCourt, who was born in Ireland, went undrafted out of Illinois. He previously spent time with the Los Angeles Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Las Vegas Raiders. As a junior, he made the game-winning kick in Illinois’ upset victory over Wisconsin, a career-high 57 yards.

Szmyt went undrafted by Syracuse. He spent time with the Chicago Bears in 2023 and led the UFL in field goals in 2024. He won the Lou Groza Award as a freshman at Syracuse.
