The Milwaukee Bucks have been very supportive of Giannis Antetokounmpo as the two-time NBA MVP embarks on a quest to win a gold medal for Greece, as evidenced by general manager Jon Horst and head coach Doc Rivers flying halfway around the world to support Giannis at the Paris Olympics.
Unfortunately, Antetokounmpo was unable to lead his team to victory in the opening game on Sunday, as Greece simply wasn’t good enough against a star-studded Canadian team that ultimately secured a crucial 86-79 victory.
A message from the Milwaukee Bucks to Giannis Antetokounmpo
Win or lose, Milwaukee’s loyalty to Antetokounmpo will never waver. The team sent a forceful message to its talisman after his 34-point outburst in the loss — one that shows the Bucks’ unwavering faith in the former two-time NBA MVP.
“What an effort by Giannis,” the team wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
What an effort from Giannis.

Antetokounmpo did everything he could here, but it just wasn’t enough. Still, you can’t blame the 29-year-old for a lack of effort.
In a follow-up post, the Bucks also shared a photo of Anteo during the game that perfectly captured his effort on Sunday. The photo in question showed Giannis competing against three Canadian players, including MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Unfortunately, the harsh reality is that Greece lack the quality in their squad. There is no denying that they will have to rely on Antetokounmpo the rest of the way, starting with Monday’s crucial match against Spain.
