Milwaukee Breweries Top pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski recently made his first appearance out of the bullpen. The results were incredible, as he pitched a lot of innings and threw a ton of strikeouts. Here, we discuss his performance in more detail, as well as why he’s emerging as a reliever.
Jacob Misiorowski put in an excellent performance in his first appearance as reliever.
Since being drafted in 2022, Jacob Misiorowski has appeared in 44 minor league games. Through Sunday, August 11, all of his appearances have come as a starting pitcher. The results in his first career relief appearance were incredible, as he threw 1.2 innings, did not allow a hit or walk, struck out two batters, and struck out 13 of 15 pitches for strikes.

Why are the Milwaukee Brewers fielding Jacob Misiorowski as a reserve player?
After being promoted to Triple-A in early August, the Brewers announced they would limit the number of innings Jacob Misiorowski throws. His 2023 season was shortened due to shoulder fatigue (71.1 IP), and he had just exceeded that number of innings before being promoted. His long-term health is one reason Milwaukee decided to limit his innings and let him come out of the bullpen, but others are because he has already proven to be a starter and they are preparing him for a possible MLB call-up at the end of the season.
What role will Jacob Misiorowski play if he advances to the huge leagues in 2024?
If Jacob Misiorowski is called up to the huge leagues in 2024, he could have a similar role to what Corbin Burnes had in 2018. At the time, Burnes was their top pitching prospect, but he was a reliever for the Brewers and had the ability to cover multiple innings. Misiorowski could follow the same path, but he’s still seen as the best starting pitcher in the long run.
