Every close contact with deer teaches us something

Consistently successful bowhunters learn something valuable from every massive deer they come across. A hunter can take some comfort in that, but it doesn’t make it any easier to stomach when one of those close calls ends without a shot.
I felt that sickening feeling while hunting this past Sunday morning – I learned my lesson, but ultimately felt frustrated considering the way this deer was moving indicated it was 5 yards downrange from my location.
