Wisconsin Football staff looking to secure a visit from vigorous 4-star LB

The Wisconsin football coaching staff has been in close contact with a 2026 class of prospect who has expressed interest in visiting campus this season.

Tristan PhillipsThe California-born linebacker, rated a four-star in the 2026 recruiting class, previously spoke with Sports Heroics in Wisconsin last month. Phillips has expressed mighty interest in Wisconsin and believes his style of play will fit in with the top linebackers who have come to Madison. The linebacker said he has a “very high” opinion of Wisconsin and has been working with the staff to plan a visit this season.

As the Wisconsin football team heads into the upcoming 2024 season, the staff continues to work on booking visits for top 2026 and 2027 recruits. It’s safe and sound to say that the 2026 and 2027 recruiting classes are loaded with talent from top to bottom and have seen an incredible amount of early recruiting.

In the case of the Wisconsin football staff, one of the players the staff tried to invite for a visit was a four-star linebacker with the class of 2026 Tristan PhillipsPhillips, a native of Ventura, California, is currently the No. 340 recruit in the country, the No. 30 linebacker overall and the No. 34 player in the state.

Phillips also has offers from Arizona, State of Arizona, Minnesota, Our Lady, WashingtonAND Civil Registry Officealong with Wisconsin. Phillips also received an offer from University of California, Los Angeles after an unofficial visit in June that was the last offer the linebacker received.

What could Phillips potentially provide to the Wisconsin Badgers defense?

If there’s one thing the Wisconsin football staff loves to see in its linebackers, it’s a level of fearlessness when it comes to getting into the offense. The Badgers love players who fly down the field and throw their bodies into the game to make plays. Phillips is that type of linebacker, combining intelligence, awareness and physicality in one 6-foot-3, 220-pound frame.

Phillips is a sure-footed tackler and physical linebacker who can either drop his shoulder into the snap or absorb incoming contact and stick with it. Perhaps the most entertaining aspect of his game is his willingness to initiate contact and stop plays before they progress. Phillips also flies around the field at high speed, consistently finding himself in the bulky of every play.

Could the Wisconsin Badgers football staff acquire Phillips in the future?

The recruiting process is still fairly novel for Phillips, and it’s likely that the top programs in a recruit’s mind will change over time. With that in mind, the Wisconsin football staff needs to continue to stay in close contact with Phillips and work on building a relationship to potentially land a recruit.

As Phillips has previously stated, both history and the environment a program can provide are factors that matter for a linebacker. If the Wisconsin staff can continue to drill those factors into their heads and secure a potential visit, acquiring Phillips could become a real possibility.
