Damian Lillard’s first season with the Milwaukee Bucks may have been disappointing for some, but he knew better than anyone that he could have done more to facilitate Giannis and the team get to a better place at the end of the season.
While the point guard is determined to play better for the Bucks, there aren’t many things he and Bucks fans can focus on. The lack of basketball content makes everyone think about the past more, as there’s no basketball to look forward to in the next few months.
Lillard was recently asked a question that took him back in time to his past, remembering the league’s biggest stars when he was still a promising guard for the Portland Trail Blazers. It’s worth considering his thoughts on the future Hall of Famer.

In the recent Club 520 In his speech, the guard shared his observations on how tough it was to guard Russell Westbrook in his first years in the NBA.

“For the first five, six years he was a bully… I remember when I was a rookie, and in the second year he tried to give me 50 every time. He shot me so many times that [Kevin Durant] he would get angry and shout, “Pass the ball!”
You can see why Lillard considered Westbrook such a threat in his early years in the league. From the 2012-13 season to the 2016-17 campaign, Brodie averaged 25.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 1.9 steals while shooting 44 percent from the field and 32 percent from 3-point range. He was at the peak of his powers as a triple-double threat, earning four All-Star nominations in the process.
But a lot has changed since then. While Westbrook is still a great point guard on an NBA roster, Lillard’s game has taken a turn for the better. He’s now Giannis’ teammate with the Milwaukee Bucks, while Westbrook has a limited role with the Denver Nuggets.
