Throughout most of his NBA career, All-Star point guard Damian Lillard has faced many challenges and overcome most of them. This has led the Milwaukee Bucks star to say that he is underrated in the league, prompting fans to react to what he said.
Damian Lillard, the legendary Portland Trail Blazers point guard, feels he is underrated despite his impressive career accomplishments. In a recent interview on the Club 520 podcast, Lillard expressed his frustration with the lack of recognition he has received for his consistent excellence in the NBA.
Despite his consistent All-Star performances, Lillard has yet to reach the NBA Finals. He led the Blazers to the Western Conference Finals in 2019, but the team has struggled to maintain that level of success in recent years. Lillard was eventually traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in a three-team deal where he hopes to win his first championship.
Last season Lillard and the Bucks had a disappointing end to their play-off campaign when they were eliminated by Tyrese Haliburton’s Indiana Pacers. It went against predictions earlier in the season that pairing the All-Star point guard with Antetokounmpo would propel Milwaukee toward earnest playoff contention.
NBA fans react to Milwaukee Bucks point guard Damian Lillard’s underrated claim
During the same interview, as seen in the video recording shared by 2Cool2Blog on XLillard has since retracted his underrated claim. Fans, in turn, have shared their thoughts on the matter.
“They act like I’m not doing what I’ve been doing. This will be my 13th season. My time in the league, when I think about how many people have been really good over that time, there haven’t been that many people who have been here the whole time I’ve been in the league who have just done it, over and over and over. But I think people just get bored with the consistency. And I’m not loud, but I’ve been doing it for so long and I’m winning,” Lillard said.

“False, people still give him credit… he just doesn’t win,” 67 Turbo wrote on Twitter.
“What props does he think he deserves? lol” Patrick said.
“Dude, how much more credit do you want?” wrote Nato Jacobs.
“I disagree with this approach to reality… Anyone who talks about Dame is giving him flowers ONLY because of his basketball skills💯, he’s in his 13th or 14th year and is top 75 with no individual accolades or rings… People consider Dame a top 10 point guard of all time and no one is arguing with that,” Pickle Rick explained.
“This scumbag couldn’t win 60 games with Giannis and his pathetic fans used the fact that he left him as an excuse,” the Chicago Sky ambassador responded.
“He’s literally in the top 75, what more does he want,” Ravo said on SNS.
“From who? Top 75. He’s a traffic cone on D and never top 5 in MVP. He has a lot of recognition that others with a similar resume don’t have… but hey, whatever motivates you,” Antoine Hardy expressed.
At 34, Lillard is still one of the league’s top point guards, averaging 24.3 points, 7.0 assists and 4.4 rebounds for playing last seasonHe has proven to be a perennial All-Star and one of the most prolific scorers in the NBA, but feels his contributions have not received the same level of recognition as those of some of his peers.
As Lillard nears the twilight of his career, he is determined to prove he deserves more respect and, ultimately, a championship ring to cement his legacy as one of the greatest point guards of all time. This upcoming season will be the point guard’s chance to do just that.
