Friday Night: Oshkosh West Takes on Preble in Thrilling ‘Showdown’

In the first game of tv32’s Sports Showdown season, Oshkosh West crashed the grand opening of the recent grass field at Preble.

Preble had a chance to win the game overdue, but the Wildcats sealed the victory with an interception by sophomore Elijah Wilder off a pass from Hornets quarterback Ty Gerard.

Elliot Reed scored from 49 yards out for the Wildcats.

Notre Dame 16, University 13

In a great amiable match between two preseason top-10 teams, Notre Dame took a 16-0 lead, but the Ghosts fought back to close the gap.

Trailing by 3 points with 20 seconds left on their home side of the court, Kaukauna tried a hook and ladder play that yielded no results and did not end the game.

Tritons senior quarterback Christian Collins, who led the state in rushing touchdowns and yards last season, had a 27-yard touchdown run in the game. Senior kicker Nicholas Gruesen was perfect on the day, connecting on all three of his field goal attempts.
