Even with the pairing of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, the Milwaukee Bucks still have a tough fight to win a championship next year. Thanks to another set of factors, that fight isn’t as simple as it seems.
The Bucks have a pivotal 2024-25 season ahead of them as they look to rebound from a disappointing 49-win season last year. After winning the NBA championship in 2021 and back-to-back 50-win seasons, the Bucks experienced a significant decline, leading to the firing of head coach Adrian Griffin mid-season.
Veteran coach Doc Rivers was brought in to peaceful things down, but his tenure had a rocky start as the team went just 17-19 to end the regular season. The Bucks’ early playoff exit at the hands of the Indiana Pacers only added to the sense of unease surrounding the franchise.
However, the Bucks still have the core that carried them to a title just three years ago, led by the energetic duo of Antetokounmpo and Lillard. There is still a good chance the Bucks will bounce back predicted result 51-31which would give third place in the Eastern Conference.

Even with Antetokounmpo, the wheels are in danger of falling off the collective operation in any future year. And as things stand, Milwaukee doesn’t have any of the current youngsters, financial flexibility or trade assets to effectively mitigate its negative impacts,” Favale wrote.
Getting back to 50-plus wins will largely depend on Antetokounmpo’s health and availability, as the team struggled without its superstar in the playoffs. The additions of veterans like Gary Trent Jr. and Delon Wright should also provide a boost, but the Bucks’ ability to recapture their championship-winning form will ultimately determine their fate.
With the league still on a par, with six different champions in the past six seasons, the Bucks remain one of the more capable teams to contend for a title in 2024-25. Their success or failure could shape the balance of power in the Eastern Conference for years to come.
