The Wisconsin Badgers aren’t the first team that comes to mind as a great football program, but they’ve developed into a great team over the past decade. Paul Chryst has helped build the team into a Bowl-qualifying squad year after year.
However, they have since moved on from him and named Luke Fickell the fresh coach. The former Cincinnati coach had no best debut campaignbut he led the team to the ReliaQuest Bowl, where they lost Fierce game to the state of Louisiana.
Badgers fans are hopeful that the upcoming season will be a step in the right direction as Fickell will be playing with recruits he personally identified last season, but the arrival of fresh contenders in the Big East will make the team’s postseason hopes more tough.
To make things even more captivating, Fickell will have to face five of the best soccer teams in the country during the preseason.
Luke Fickell’s Wisconsin Badgers to Be 2024 Preseason Top 5 Favorites
Anderley Penwell from WMTV wrote about the Badgers’ schedule and the teams they’ll face, which include teams that joined the Big East from the Pac-12:
The Badgers have two of those four on their schedule this year. They will play No. 23 USC in behind schedule September, then welcome No. 3 Oregon to Madison in mid-November.
He also highlighted the other top teams they will face during the regular season:
They will face five teams that were ranked in the AP Top 25 Preseason Poll at the beginning of the season, including powerhouse Alabama in Madison in Week 3. From there, UW will hit the road for the first time, hosting its first top-10 opponent, No. 23 USC.
They will face three ranked teams in behind schedule October, hosting No. 8 Penn State, then take on No. 25 Iowa on the road, then have a week off before returning home to face No. 3 Oregon.
This will be an captivating season for the Badgers as they will be playing without Mordecai the Tanner in the QB position and Braelon Allen at RB. If they can qualify for a bowl game despite a tough schedule, it would give Luke Fickell and his team a lot of momentum.
