Few topics in the deer space divide hunters into opposing factions like the October lull does. Many hunters find the first few weeks of October so snail-paced that it’s not even worth hunting. They argue that it’s better to stay out of the woods and stay composed before they start hunting challenging in the pre-rush period.
Hunters on the other side of the aisle say the lull, like the phase of the moon, certain weather patterns and a host of other factors, can affect deer but doesn’t eliminate them. They believe it’s better to keep hunting and trying to figure out where the deer went than to give up. The latter group is largely correct, but it doesn’t make it any easier.
